International Law
Under Maltese law the enforcement of foreign judgements relating to civil and commercial matters are regulated by the Code of Organization and Civil Procedure (chapter 12 of the laws of Malta) and the European Union legislation on the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, regulation [EC] 1215/2012 also known as the Brussel II regulation.
Malta is a signatory to the Hague Convention and therefore this adds a layer of protection to parents who marry and decide to have children outside of their jurisdiction so long as the other parents belongs to a country which is also signatory to the Hague Convention.
AV Legal specially assists clients whose children are either retained unlawfully in countries outside of Malta or clients who wish to have their children’s domicile and residence established in Malta so long as their case is within the parameters of law.
